Weener Plastic Packaging Group (WPPG), headquartered in Germany, has acquired the shares of its joint venture partner Globalpack and currently owns 100% of Weener Globalpack Indústria Plástica Ltda in Jaraguá, São Paulo, Brazil. The plant produces plastic packaging components for deodorants and antiperspirants. The company has been renamed and will operate as Weener Indústria Plástica Ltda from now on. The transaction has been closed in July 2015.

WPPG has also acquired the additional injection and extrusion molding business, including the related assembly and decoration operations, at Globalpack's Jaraguá facility. For this operation, a new company has been established: Weener Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Embalagens Plásticas Ltda. The shares have been transferred in August 2015.

These acquisitions are a logical step in Weener's global expansion strategy, supporting global and local customers with world-class operations, excellent engineering programs and innovative product development.

The production site, located in Jaraguá, one of São Paulo's 96 districts, employs more than 400 people. Weener sees significant growth potential for its innovative products in the Brazilian market and the factory will play a central role in the company's growth strategy.

Mr. Arnaldo Conte has been appointed as Managing Director of the two companies. "Weener has created a unique strategic opportunity by bringing its expertise and innovation leadership to the rapidly growing Brazilian market," Conte said. "We can focus on existing and new Brazilian customers whilst strengthening our offerings to deliver even greater value."

WPPG is a market-leading global plastic packaging company with 24 operations in 16 countries worldwide.
