Position Summary

Responsible for establishing and promoting a health and safety culture within the company, ensuring that the company's safety rules and procedures are carried out, and potential hazards are identified, and preventive measures are developed and implemented with all employees.

Job Position Responsibilities

  • Lead workplace safety and health management by recognizing risks and establishing policies and procedures to eliminate those risks.
  • Investigate accidents and provide documentation in a complete and timely manner to upper management.
  • Track KPI's as they relate to health and safety and report the data to management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the company is compliant with legal requirements and adheres to guidelines.
  • Lead the safety committee and hold monthly meetings to engage with team members from all areas of the company and follow through with resolutions to issues raised.
  • Identify safety development and training needs.
  • Design, schedule, and implement safety training.
  • Conduct fire drills and tornado drills on a semi-annual basis to ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Participate in SQF and ISO on-site audits.
  • Maintain all EHS files and documents.
  • Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
  • Contribute effectively toward team goals, exhibit influence within a work group, and continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Report all accidents or near misses.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Any other tasks that may be necessary to meet the production schedule in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field, or minimum 4 years experience as an EHS Manager in a manufacturing environment
  • OSHA-related certification preferred
  • Experience in ISO 9001 and 14001 is preferred
  • SQF Practitioner and HACCP Certification is preferred
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels
  • Professional and optimistic attitude, ability to work in a team environment
