Job Summary
This is a hands-on position, requiring this individual become closely familiar with the business practices, systems, and processes, set forth by our Corporate Finance Dept. The Financial Controller must build strong partnerships with other departments and the business group finance team, in order to be responsible for the accuracy of our business transactions, financial results, and projections of the business, as well as to make sound recommendations related to business transactions and decisions. The FC is the primary liaison with the business group finance team for the reporting of monthly results and managing business group finance team financial information requests.
Principle Accountabilities
- Prepares financial forecast, budgets, long-range planning and analysis for the company.
- Prepares financial analyses to support sales and operations-related decision making as we make investment decisions (scope mainly focused on full product margins and working capital and RONA).
- Prepares recurring reporting and analysis on key elements of the business unit performance, including financial statements.
- Lead the company's general accounting, cash management, supplier payment, credit and collections, management and corporate reporting, business controls, and compliance activities.
- Establish and maintain an effective business control environment:
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, and procedures, and improve on our accounting and reporting processes. Perform accounting research and analysis as required.
- Coordinate external and internal audits, performs training and business controls and financials reviews, makes recommendations for improvement, and ensures improvements are implemented on a timely basis.
- Manage supplier payment, customer credit and collection processes, and identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
- Establish and maintain systems, tools, reporting, and cross-functional processes which support these objectives.
- Manages, trains, mentors, and develops 1-2 staff to accomplish these objectives, and provides necessary training to others to accomplish objectives.
- Works collaboratively with all other functions of the business to accomplish objectives.
- Adheres to all environmental and quality standards.
Required Skills/Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with at least 7 years of related experience and minimum of 3 years management.
- 2 - 3 years experience managing supplier and customer transaction processes.
- Candidates will be able to demonstrate a track record of managing and developing financial professionals.
- Advanced degree or master's degree in business preferred.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Strong ability to report & interpret accurate financial results.
- Strong experience working with SAP and LucaNet preferred.
- Experience with business intelligence software re (or similar) required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table, Lookups, etc) and PowerPoint with ability to train others.
Job Responsibilities
30% Monthly closing, forecasting, and reporting cycle management. This role will be responsible for ensuring a comprehensive process for these activities is maintained by staff, and ensuring the discipline to keep to our committed schedule. In addition, this role is responsible for accuracy in reported financials specifically for EBIT, Working Capital and Direct Cash Flow.
20% Financial support to commercial and operating teams focused on understanding pricing, revenue, margins, product costs and working capital.
20% Annual planning and budget preparation, including related supporting analyses and presentation materials.
10% Supplier payment and customer credit and collections management. Cash management reporting and forecasting.
10% Development, coaching and training of staff.
10% Business controls and technical accounting matters.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a desk for extended periods of time and occasionally walk throughout the production area. The atmosphere is climatic controlled.
